Was offered a $200 credit limit through their catalog in Feb 2014. Ordered a Guitar combo for my 12yr old .

Total was $197.98. Have made on time payments above the minimum with a current balance of $96.95 in good standing. Received an email yesterday with the following: You have been pre-approved for $00200 with Stoneberry Credit! To take advantage of this offer, please enter your pre-approval code in the catalog ID box during checkout.

Thank you for shopping Stoneberry!.... Thinking it was a $200 credit increase I proceeded to order a couple of Kitchen gadgets. Assuming my credit limit had increased for timely payments I gathered that I now had an available credit of $295.65. (that's how Fingerhut works) My new order was $200.47.

This morning I check the order status and they want a down payment??? Huh?

Called the rep and she said it was just another offer, but there was no increase in the credit limit, The CL was still only $200. I asked what was the purpose of the email then? She went Duh, I dunno, must be a mistake.

I told her to remove me from all catalog/email listings, that I would pay the balance and would never shop with them again.

A down-payment on a freaking meat slicer and meat grinder that were $80 and $90 respectively. That is a Joke

Yep they should at least give customers 90days to return goods as in 30 days things such as goods maynot fall apart yet.I do know that Stonberry is with Mason Companies Inc of Chippewa Falls, but try to find their phone number. Good luck folks.

After having this account for three years Iโ€™m closing mine out with zero balance owed.

Amen. These guys hep with gainful credit scores but thatโ€™s about all.

The first year I ordered from them made payments on time paid it off and then reordered last Christmas. Wanted partial payment so sent it off.

Did not receive merchandise but at about six weeks recieved my money back. Later was told items were back ordered. Recieved partial order. Made payment of over amount so would have a start on the rest of order.

Recieved ayment ck back and bill with late charges!! Finally I asked to have a single person to talk to and was finally put in contact with one. Thought it was cleared up then rec note that they needed down payment in order to ship remaining order. Sent 2x what they ask for and 3weeks later rec a credi check back and still no merchandise!!

Thank heavens I had kept the persons name and address so sent her the check and asked that she please figure this out. On August 3 rec email that my order was ready to be shipped(Christmas 2015 things for my grandsons).

If I could have found those items elsewhere I would have but couldn't. I have never worked so hard to buy something in my life.

Seventh Avenue is the best to deal with as far as catalog orders go and they work with you. Iโ€™m closing out my Stoneberry acct too .... Iโ€™m way done with the way they treat consumers.

Don't do business with these people all ads are very misleading and practice unorthodox business, do not order from these people..!

Same thing happened to me. I received a letter saying my credit was increased to $450.00,after paying off a bill of 250.00 early in 6mos so I thought a would buy a NFL jacket totaling 187.50.

They sent me s letter wanting 50% down. What's up with that!!!!!

They are very misleading . NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY they are a joke !!!!!!!

"You have been pre-approved for $00200 with Stoneberry Credit!"

Not sure how you got credit line increase out of "pre-approved". You said fingerhut does the same, which they do email if they give you a credit line increase but the email clearly says "credit line" increase.

I get pre-approved emails from fingerhut and even pre-approved catalogs even though I already have an account. I know it's not a credit line increase.

I personally like how stoneberry allows you to go above your credit limit by only requiring a 25% down payment. Say you have a $100 limit and you want a $400 item, u just have to pay 25% and they'll spot you the other amount.

Nearly no other credit company would risk that.

I understand your frustration, but there's no need to leave a bad review over not understanding how they work. It's clearly on their website.

But I misunderstanding is the majority of complaints on here. That and paying late and being mad because a late fee is applied.

What's the point in sending a pre approved catalog/email to an existing customer?

Pre approve means pre approve not increase and the catalogs are just sent out by computer weather you have credit with them or not.. it's no big deal

Apparently it's a big enough deal that's causing a problem. Receiving communications of such from a company that you are already an existing customer of is poor business practice to me.

Existing customers should be acknowledged & shown appreciation, not made to feel as if the company doesn't already have a relationship with them.

What did the company gain from sending the said communication to it's already existing customer? Nothing, but made them feel unappreciated & confused them with their account standings...not good.
